Kirkstall Hill

With a gradual improvement in the weather over the past couple of days I wandered over to Kirkstall Hill. The fragrant blossoms of Lilac (Syringa vulgaris) and the new leaves of  Common Whitebeam (Sorbus aria) stood out against the surrounding vegetation.

As the sun popped out from behind the clouds bees began to work their way around the emerging wildflowers.

The view from the path looking north.

St Stephens church steeple is visible through the clearing.

  2. Looks like a delightful spot with plenty of interest along the way. That's a very steep steeple in the distance.

  3. Love to see that colour Lilac Linda.
Um! where is this "gradual improvement in the weather you mentioned." ?? {:)
I have seen a few bees and a very few butterflies. This weather is having a bad effect at the moment as we should be seeing many more species than we are.

  4. Glad the weather is improving where you are Linda - it was awful here again yesterday! Kirkstall Hill looks a lovely place to walk and its wonderful to see a photo of lilac in flower.

  5. Hello CB,yes its good to get out.

Hello Rob, its a funny spot, the site is actually adjacent to a very busy main road intersection in a moderately populated urban area, and easily missed if you didn't know it was there. Sometimes these places take time to discover..

Hello Roy, I think it was wishful thinking on my part, I did see sunshine for more than a minute honest! I agree, its not a good sign for this time of year.

Hello Ragged Robin, it turns out I was wishing the good weather my way, but my wish hasn't yet come true! Fingers crossed for an improvement soon.

Have good weekend's everybody, best wishes, Linda
